There was a recent BBC Radio World Service interview with Professor Geoff Beattie. He explained what foot readers have known for some time—that you have no idea most of the time what your feet are doing. The feet give the least conscious internal feedback so they will often give away non-verbal communication signals without you even realising. For example, if you wanted to know if someone is lying to you, watch the feet. People dissipate nervous energy through foot movements. Right before you tell a lie, the movements will increase as you anticipate telling the lie, but during the telling of the lie there will be far fewer foot movements.
When looking at how you can tell if someone is interested in you, a german psychologist studied the non-verbal signals and concluded that the women would point their feet towards the other person and hold their feet slightly apart. Whereas men do a head tilt and lean forwards. So certainly, for understanding women, the feet are very important!
Guys, I hope you’re taking notes.

Wish I had known that part about lying years ago!
